A two-day workshop on Leadership and Managing Change was held at Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori and High School, says a press release.
The workshop was held by Shaista Shahid, an eminent Education Consultant with nearly 30 years of experience in the education sector. All principals, section heads and Montessori directresses attended the workshop along with some key people from the SLS Head Office who make and implement policies.
The aim of the workshop was two-fold; one, to have an honest overview of the leadership style used in the school at different levels and its effectiveness, and two, how to introduce change at small and large scales.
Through facilitated group discussions, the objectives of the workshop were met. Sections heads anonymously gave honest reviews about their management and leadership styles that went home with them. They were given chances to mull over which parts of their character they needed to work on as a school and community leader and how to go about doing it. Policy makers at the Head Office also got an insight into their leaderships abilities and think about where improvement was needed.
The second half of the workshop gave deep insight to all the managers about why change is resisted at every level and how it is the most essential aspect in a growing organisation. The attendees learnt how to introduce change and how to bring it about in their respective positions in small, baby steps. The correct way of handling the resistance to the change was also learnt.
SLS Schools Managing Director Asiya Talha thanked Shaista Shahid for sharing her knowledge of leadership skills with such lovely personal anecdotes added to it. She said that the team at SLS was like a big family and that family coming together to learn something so valuable was very significant as it underscored what SLS believes in and stands for.
